Play Atlantic City Blackjack Gold On Mobile This October 2014
September 23rd, 2014Microgaming are releasing their incredibly popular multi-hand blackjack table on mobile this coming October. What can we expect from the on-the-go version?
It’s been a while since we’ve had a new Blackjack game on mobile, so it’s nice to see that this isn’t just your standard variation of the game. Whether or not you’ll want to play will depend on how much you like Atlantic City Blackjack.
What makes this mobile casino game so exciting is that it’s going to be multi-hand – usually lacking on our smaller screens. The question then becomes; will it be too much? And how will it fare against the rest of the mobile blackjack games already out there?
Quick recap of the game
Of course, if you really wanted to, you could simply go to any good Microgaming casino and play Atlantic City Blackjack online. You’ll know automatically what it’s like and whether it’s for you.
But we are going to assume you are totally lazy and would rather, you know, let us tell you. Fair enough. It’s what we are here for.
It’s Atlantic Blackjack
Shocker right?
The expected return to player rate on this game is 99.68%. One of the highest around.
For those of you who only have a vague grasp of the game, Atlantic City Blackjack is American style blackjack, with a few twists.
Namely that whilst the European variation used two decks of cards, and the Vegas style game uses 4 decks of cards, the Atlantic city version uses 8 decks of cards which are shuffled before every draw.
Equally, the late surrender rule is in place, allowing you to get half your bet back once the dealer has checked if they have blackjack when they get a high card showing.
Highlight of this new Microgaming game
- You can play up to 5 hands of blackjack
- Min/max bet: 1 / 200
- Dealer peeks for Blackjack on 10’s and Aces upwards
- Dealer stands on all 17
- You can only split Aces once
- If you get 21 on a split Ace it counts as 21 and can be beaten by blackjack
- You can only take one card to split Aces
- You can double down on any two cards
- You can double down after splitting
- You can split your hand 3 times, making up to 4 hands
- Any 10-value cards may be split (i.e. Jack and King)
So there you have it. You’re standard American style blackjack, with a few nice twists.
How will it play out on mobile?
Our fear is that five hands will make this mobile phone blackjack unplayable.
On Android tablets and iPads it will play marvellously, we have absolutely no doubt about that. Even if the simple style and graphics might make it lack a little flair.
However, the most hand you’ll find on blackjack for mobile phones is generally three. Which you’ve probably figured out as you are so very clever, is for the very obvious reason of screen space. Having to place bets and chips on 3 hands can be tricky if the game is not perfectly designed. So five hands will be, realistically, hell.
Of course, this is Microgaming we are talking about. Not some two-bit casinos software that no one has ever heard of. So if anyone can do 5 hand blackjack, Microgaming can.
Alternatively they might take the easy way out and turn this Atlantic City game into one hand only for mobile. At which point, we will be bitterly disappointed, because we are spoiled children and we want it all damnit!
Where can I play this game?
We mentioned the part about Microgaming Casinos right? Good good.
So by default, anyone within France and the USA should be use by now to us saying that Microgaming games are not available there. Canadians, Australians and the rest of Europe however, you are more than welcome in Atlantic City.
Personally, we like a little variety. And, just in case this game of 21 doesn’t match our incredibly high but wholly justifiable expectations of a mobile phone casino game, it’s nice to know that you have other mobile blackjack tables to keep you company.
As such, our favourite mobile casinos are the multi-software ones, with all sorts of providers, from NetEnt to Bally. Here’s our top picks:
- NextCasino: €£$8 free no deposit + 100% Bonus + 100 Free spins
- Vera & John: 10 free spins no deposit + 100% up to £$€500 in cash bonus
- Guts Casino: 100 free spins with no wagering + £$€300 worth of bonuses
- BGO Vegas: 20 free spins no deposit + 200% bonus + 180 free spins
4 different casinos with 4 very different types of bonuses for you to choose from and all with the full range of Microgaming mobile games.
